Thought that I'd known you forever; felt like I'd finally come home.

So here are some of the photos I promised to upload for you guys from AVCon way back when!

I haven’t yet received the final images back from the photographer, Peter Lay aka Fotoplay, but I’m really looking forward to seeing how he can brighten these up. Also, unfortunately, because these photos were taken at the end of the con when I’d already done myself a serious back injury with my wig, I’d taken my green contacts out, so he’s going to be doing a little bit of colour correction. But I couldn’t wait to show you guys so here we are :)

also considering my wig had travelled from perth to adelaide in a suitcase before being worn for ten hours straight I think we can forgive how ratty the underside looks in that last image

…but I just got back from Adelaide yesterday afternoon and I’m still on a post-con high!! I had the most amazing time hanging out in an apartment for five days with some friends I knew through cosplay (but not that well) and now we’re all good mates and have FAR too many injokes.

If you see any photos of me, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

  • Saturday: we cosplayed from Daria - I was Daria and my friends were Jane and Quinn.
  • Sunday: I wore my Rapunzel from Tangled costume (the wig required its own SUITCASE to get over there from Perth!)

I seriously had so much fun! Particularly as Rapunzel - I was worried about weight in my case so I gave a couple of my flowers away to little girls who told me they wanted to grow their hair as long as mine. Also as Daria, Cassandra Lee (the voice actor for just about every English dub ever - we didn’t actually know who she was though because we only watch subs - sorry Cassandra!) demanded to have her photo taken with us, because she was a massive Daria fan! :)

I’ll be uploading my photos over the next few days… I missed the first few days of uni to attend the con though so I’ve got some catching up to do.

Thanks for putting up with my absence and then my spam, followers! :)

I had so much fun as Rapunzel from Tangled, and I was super happy with how we went on stage. It was probably a GAJILLION times more intimidating being on stage and trying to stay in character (I still cringe at my super-Aussie use of the anachronisms “no worries” and “guys”) and aside from that I think we did an okay job. Here’s a video my friend took of the interview stage- the interviewer is John Robertson, who is an amazing comedian who also hails from Perth, and you should really check out his stuff :)

We were bumped up to the Advanced level of the cosplay competition at registration, because they took one look at my costume (and this is the kicker, I was missing my Flynn and had to drive in so I was only wearing my short brown wig, so they hadn’t even seen my long wig) and said that it was too well made for me to enter Beginners level anymore. I was really pleased that they’d noticed the construction, but also somewhat deflated because I didn’t think we had a chance to win anything - and then we took out Best Costume in Advanced level!!! :D :D :D

I was a bit sad my fibre optics didn’t work, but that’s for next time I guess.
